The Terms block is the legal section of a quote. It lists the full text of every term attached to the quote’s Pricing Options, so the buyer sees exactly what comes with the price they’re being offered. A quote has at most one Terms block. Once a quote has one, the Terms entry in the Add Content menu is greyed out and marked Already added. How the block behaves depends on whether your admin has set up a Terms library. Most accounts have one.

With a Terms library

When your account has a Terms library, the Terms block is built for you from the terms attached to each Pricing Option. Reps don’t write or edit it — they choose which terms go on which option, and the block follows.

How terms get onto the quote

  1. Attach terms to a Pricing Option. Open the option and use the Terms section of the Calculator to add or remove terms from the library. Terms marked Default in the library are attached to every new option automatically.
  2. The Terms block appears. As soon as any visible option carries a term, Veles adds the Terms block near the top of the quote, just below the header. New quotes get it straight away when the default terms apply.
  3. Each term is numbered. The block lists every attached term once, as “1. Term name:” followed by its full text. On each Pricing Option, the attached terms show as labels with the same reference number, so the buyer can see which clauses belong to which option.
The block stays in sync on its own:
  • Attaching or removing a term on an option updates the block.
  • Hiding an option removes its terms from the block (unless another visible option also carries them).
  • When no visible option carries any term, Veles removes the block.
Choosing Terms from Add Content builds the block from the options’ current terms. If no option has a term attached yet, nothing is added — attach a term to an option first.
The legal text comes from the library and can’t be changed on the quote. To change the wording, an admin edits the term in the library. Published versions of a quote keep the wording they were published with. A draft quote picks up the new wording the next time its Terms block is rebuilt — whenever a Pricing Option is saved, hidden, or revealed. See Terms for how the library works and how to set up terms.

Without a Terms library

If your account has no terms in its library, Terms adds a single free-text Terms block instead. It works like a Text block with a fixed “Terms” heading:
  • It starts with your account’s default terms text, if one has been set up.
  • Click the block to edit the text, then click Save.
The free-text Terms block is included in generated documents, but it doesn’t currently appear on the Web Portal. If buyers need to read your terms in the portal, set up a Terms library or put the text in a Text block.

Manage the block

Hover over the block and click the grip icon on its left to open the block menu. Drag the same icon to move the block elsewhere on the quote. Blocks can only be added, changed, moved, or removed while the quote is in the quoting stage.

Where it appears

  • Web Portal: the library-based Terms block renders as a numbered list of each term’s name and full text, and each Pricing Option shows labels for its terms.
  • Documents: templates have several ways to print terms:
    • terms_html — every term on the quote, numbered, together with the content of Text blocks, in quote order.
    • option.terms_html — only the terms attached to that option.
    • term.<key> — one term’s text on its own, for placing a clause exactly where you want it. See Placing individual terms.
See Document Generation for the full variable reference.
